LenSx Laser assisted Cataract Surgery

LenSxJust as you have options when it comes to choosing the lens that you receive during cataract surgery, you also have the option of choosing the technology that’s used to perform the procedure. That means you have the choice between surgery performed by hand or with the assistance of laser technology.

Either type of procedure can be effective when performed by a skilled surgeon, but laser-assisted cataract surgery procedures are generally more predictable and precise. Laser-assisted cataract surgery technology can automate certain steps during the procedure with laser precision.

All of of cataract surgeons are now using the LenSx Femtosecond Laser at the Wills Eye Main Line Surgery Center with excellent results. Please ask us if you are a candidate for LenSx when you are discussing cataract surgery with your doctor.

"The Kay Tabas Niknam Ophthalmology group performs more
cataract surgery at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia than
any other ophthalmology group!"

Kay, Tabas, Niknam volunteers in the community

On Sunday May 4th, Dr. Janine Tabas and staff Barbara McGough, Derrick Sterling, and Rosell Dixon hit the road in the Wills on Wheels mobile eye unit. Together they screened over 60 members of the Filipino community outside the St. Augustine Church in Center City.

Three Generations of Eye Surgery
Four Generations of Eye Care

Occasionally we have the great fortune of providing eye care to multiple generations of the same family. Dr Tabas has had such a privilege with the Melfi-Branella Family. She performed cataract surgery on the Matriarch of the family Filomena Daniele over 20 years ago, her daughter Cornelia Branella over 10 years ago, and very recently her granddaughter Lydia Melfi.

Dr. Tabas also has performed Laser Vision Correction surgery, and cataract surgery on Filomena's grandson Frank Branella. She also examines Lydia's husband Vincent Melfi, and daughter Gina Melfi for routine exams.

Getting to know and care for families such as these make doing what we do all the more special. .
